I am a fan of Queer as Folks US and I like how the show portrays different gay lifestyles. There is no one uniform gay lifestyle. As the colors of rainbow are many, so are the types of gay and their lifestyles. And one of the differences in gay lifestyle is the different gay bars shown on QaF. There is the billiards and pub-like gay bar in which gay and even straight, though few, patrons can hang out and be themselves. And there is also thump-thumping, ray lights-abound gay bar where the gays go dance and, again, be themselves. I prefer both. Here in Cebu, the site for gays to be like owls and dance like wolves is now  in Mango Square area. Numero Doce and Alchology have now been perceived as gay bars but they are more prescribed as M2M bars. Why is that? I believe that the term gay bar is originally meant for a watering hole with male dancers in skimpy suits (and sometimes none). My Husband's Lover is a depressing teleserye. It has a story that spirals down from a relationship built on lies because of a perceived stability-- than to be none the wiser-- to a truth that brings more misery than relief. It is a story told from a wife's perspective, narrated in consequential manner with flashbacks that can correlate with the present situations. The title can be directly pointed to Erick, the husband's lover in which the wife, Lally, narrated the story in varying emotions from happiness to suffering and guilt. Reconciliation seems to be arduous in a situation tied down because of a marital vow yet redemption can be attained but seemingly difficult to conceive.  It's depressing, really but somehow the beauty in My Husband's Lover is its nearness to real situations though the narration and plots are fictionalized. It's a commendable teleserye, groundbreaking as they say.  I am not a fan of GMA teleseryes but this one is an exemption...

I want to be brave enough like Sebastian Castro.  I've managed to be subtle about my sexuality. But when one person knows about you, it is prone for other people to know about you unknowingly. You would know it by surprise when they outright wanted confirmation from you.  It is like a seed is being planted to grow a grapevine when you tell a person about something, in my case, my sexuality. And that is what I have experienced. Just this morning, a friend who is a blogger asked me about my real sexuality after hearing from another friend. He couldn't fathom when he heard about it from that friend and was even disgusted for hearing something slanderous about me. He couldn't imagine, he said. And so he wanted to confirm it. Gay bars in Cebu are known to be mostly strip clubs with young men called go-go boys dancing provocatively to win the hearts of their audience.  Macho dancer is a more popular term for a go-go boy in the Philippines. They are mostly young with muscular or toned bodies and attractive. The handsome lads of the crop of macho dancers get the most wow from the audience while those who manage to impress have the bodies or the "asset". But there is irony in having these strip clubs known as gay bars in the Philippines, especially in Cebu. A gay bar should be a hangout place for gays, not for supposedly gay yet straight dancers who cater to gay and women clientele for a night or a "short-time". It is mostly seen as a male-whore club than a place for hook-ups.  With the relabeling of gay bars in Cebu into male entertainment clubs, the public would now have an idea what kind of club they want to go for hook-ups. I still remember when I was 11 when I had a calendar on the wall with pictures of celebrities under contract with Viva. Sharon Cuneta was the biggest star of Viva Films at that time. Next to her was Rustom Padilla, the younger brother of Robin Padilla. It would have been Robin Padilla but the Philippines' celebrated bad boy was spending his time in jail.  Rustom Padilla was a big star during the 1990's. I still remember my titas giggling whenever they got a glimpse of Rustom. Rustom and Carmina's love team at that time was very popular. Their beautiful looks which are eerily almost the same attributed their hit love team during the early to mid 1990's until their secret marriage. Rustom was the male fantasy of the 90's aside from Aga Muhlach and Richard Gomez. They were the three leading men of that decade with Rustom the biggest matinee idol of Viva Films while Richard Gomez and Aga Muchlach alternated between Star Cinema and Regal Films. 

I have yet to see a hotel or establishment in Cebu with a rainbow flag installed on their facades. It is still hard to classify an establishment to be gay-friendly or not.   I am thankful though that there are no records of bullying or some reports of sort in which the LGBT in Cebu are the victims. Perhaps, news about gays being fooled and swindled may have been passed on verbally but big news about the LGBT is about HIV cases rising in Cebu. The LoveYourself program, which took place in February 23, 2013 in Cebu City is an event I missed. I would have gone to the event with my special someone at that time but opted not to because of conflicts in schedule. The LGBT community in Cebu is not yet that obvious, but with the rise of bloggers in Cebu who identify themselves as belonging to LGBT can help in providing awareness about the community. It's surprising to have a blog that features gay bars in Cebu. I have come to like it for it is filled with information and the blog is well-written too. And impressed, I am. It is just that when it comes to gay bars in Cebu, the real gay bars have become scarce. They are now transformed into male entertainment bars catered to women clientele, especially Koreans. I remember back in 2006 when I visited Tarzan with my cousin. We might have been classified gay because we entered a gay bar. But the thing that surprised me though was that women outnumbered the guys in the audience. And mostly those who were male in the audience were just curious and just tagged along with their circle of friends. And another thing that is surprising was that female Koreans numbered in half in the total audience population. Gay bars in Cebu are now labeled as male entertainment bars. Blame it on the gay blogger friend who introduced me to Sebastian Castro. I am somewhat obsessed with this guy that it'd take me days to get over this obsession and be back to my normal self. I resurrected this blog because I wanted to share some things about Sebastian Castro after just a night of watching his vids on YouTube. Why I come to love him is beyond me. It is rare for me to get too obsessed and I always have this sarcastic attitude that would turn down people. In other words, I am critical of people but I respect them. Rihanna made Diamond so big I've become addicted to the song. Sometimes unknowingly, I sing the line "Shine bright like a Diamond" that I even surprise myself.  I don't know if it's gay or not. Aside from Rihanna's video, there is a male cover version of Diamond that I really like. It is sung by a very cute male. But the way the rendition is made, I can't hep but speculate if he's gay. I really like the version and others too for it managed to bring millions of views on YouTube. I like the husky voice and the ad libs.

Sebastian Castro made a music video a few days before his coming out. This is the video that pushed people to speculate about him and his sexuality. The music video of Bubble is daring, raunchy yet beautifully-edited, more so when you have beautiful boys dancing with the beat in their undies. The first time I watched this video, it was hell of a NSFW. Thank God, I am not in a corporate rat race anymore. I could watch the video in my room and in my home office without someone trying to sneak in. I've watched it many times that I became somewhat addicted to it. Bubble has the quality that can be addictive especially to guys (and even girls) who like to watch good-looking and muscular boys dancing in their undies. Diamonds of Rihanna is one of my fave songs on my Android's playlist. But this fave thing started when I saw a video of Rihanna's performance during the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2012. And from the fave craze, I came to know other Victoria's Secret Angels aside from Tyra Banks, Heide Klum and Giselle Bundchen, who are all not anymore part of the VSA 2012 show. Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio are the fronts of Victoria's Secret Angels as they have been in VS far longer than other Angels. Behati Prinsloo, the girlfriend of Adam Levine, opened the segment of this VSF show called Dangerous Liaisons. Other models include the Chinese model Sui He, Lily Donaldson and Lindsay Ellingson. Miranda Kerr came in pink. Doutzen Kroes closed this segment as she strutted the catwalk hand-in-hand briefly with Rihanna. Back in 2006 when  I first heard about Charice Pempengco in Little Big Star, I knew that the girl with a big voice would make it big. And yes it happened, with the help of social media. I think the same would happen with Sebastian Castro who made social media as his platform for fame. I am an advocate of social media. Although I am deeply closeted, I know the right talent that is worth promoting. I knew Adele would be a big star in 2011 with Rolling in the Deep. But 3 years before her big fame, her Chasing Pavements became my favorite. Gotye shot to fame with the help of social media and I think the rendition of other artists of Gotye's "Somebody I used to know" on YouTube helped propel the success of the Australian male artist. These people I know are big in show business with the exception of Sebastian Castro who has still started to shine.
