Cebu City will host the first Pasigarbo sa Pagkatawo this year on December 1-3. This will be a momentous event for the LGBTIQ community in Cebu and in the Visayas as this event potentially brings visibility to the community, something I have dreamed about to happen in Cebu, being a secret member of the community. Cebu may have an active LGBTIQ community but it is not something really felt. Perhaps, it might be because the LGBTQI's are more accepted here. The blogging communities in Cebu are also composed of LGBTIQ persons, myself included. But not all are out and mostly discreet. With the rising HIV cases reported in Cebu, there must be an event or series of events that will bring impetus to young LGBTIQ's who are searching for allies and understanding in the community. Thai Boys Love series, Together with me, has done what other Asian BL series have failed to do. The directors and producers have probably listened to the concerns of BL audience, whose main sentiment is the lack of passion of M2M romantic couples who are also the leads in the series. When I mean the lack of passion, it means the lack of kissing parts. Some BL series are even devoid of that scene, making the watchers and audience think that they have been fooled.  Lately, watching Boy's Love (BL) series has been a pastime. But when I have come to observe the number of reach and audience of this kind of industry, I even think that there's a good potential for producers to capitalize this industry. Bangtan Boys has formally announced its September comeback through a series of videos titled "Love Yourself Highlight Reels." The boys utilized their acting chops alongside young actresses that are reportedly trainees and idols from other Kpop groups and entertainment agencies in South Korea. Prior to the highlight reels, BigHit through its official Twitter and Instagram accounts released teaser posters of Love Yourself concept, giving the ARMY's ideas and glimpses of what to expect during the BTS comeback on September. Liberation has never been new to me.  The accumulation of knowledge, though not yet vast in numbers, has helped me thrust myself into a liberal state and even in a point of view.  There has been an awakening, something I would not have realized in my 3 decades of life. I am a fan of Queer as Folks US and I like how the show portrays different gay lifestyles. There is no one uniform gay lifestyle. As the colors of rainbow are many, so are the types of gay and their lifestyles. And one of the differences in gay lifestyle is the different gay bars shown on QaF. There is the billiards and pub-like gay bar in which gay and even straight, though few, patrons can hang out and be themselves. And there is also thump-thumping, ray lights-abound gay bar where the gays go dance and, again, be themselves. I prefer both. Here in Cebu, the site for gays to be like owls and dance like wolves is now  in Mango Square area. Numero Doce and Alchology have now been perceived as gay bars but they are more prescribed as M2M bars. Why is that? I believe that the term gay bar is originally meant for a watering hole with male dancers in skimpy suits (and sometimes none). My Husband's Lover is a depressing teleserye. It has a story that spirals down from a relationship built on lies because of a perceived stability-- than to be none the wiser-- to a truth that brings more misery than relief. It is a story told from a wife's perspective, narrated in consequential manner with flashbacks that can correlate with the present situations. The title can be directly pointed to Erick, the husband's lover in which the wife, Lally, narrated the story in varying emotions from happiness to suffering and guilt. Reconciliation seems to be arduous in a situation tied down because of a marital vow yet redemption can be attained but seemingly difficult to conceive.  It's depressing, really but somehow the beauty in My Husband's Lover is its nearness to real situations though the narration and plots are fictionalized. It's a commendable teleserye, groundbreaking as they say.  I am not a fan of GMA teleseryes but this one is an exemption...

I want to be brave enough like Sebastian Castro.  I've managed to be subtle about my sexuality. But when one person knows about you, it is prone for other people to know about you unknowingly. You would know it by surprise when they outright wanted confirmation from you.  It is like a seed is being planted to grow a grapevine when you tell a person about something, in my case, my sexuality. And that is what I have experienced. Just this morning, a friend who is a blogger asked me about my real sexuality after hearing from another friend. He couldn't fathom when he heard about it from that friend and was even disgusted for hearing something slanderous about me. He couldn't imagine, he said. And so he wanted to confirm it. And I did tell hm to confirm. As for his reaction, it's priceless. There's no hint of a gay bone on me as he said.
