Sebastian Castro comes out, reveals gay in social media

Social media is the platform Sebastian Castro used to come out his sexual orientation. Unlike other celebrities who made a big public announcement about their sexuality in show-biz oriented talk shows on TV, magazines and in awards nights, Sebastian Castro turned to social media to reveal what he truly is.

"I am gay," Sebastian told the queens of Becky Nights including Divine Lee and I think many were surprised about the announcement although these gays already knew of that fact even before the big reveal.

He is known to be open with his sexuality in gay community in the Philippines, but not to all of his social media followers numbering in thousands on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

He is cute, bubbly and gay. These are the qualities that many closeted gay Pinoys are hoping for a celebrity to be a role model. The irony of this is that Sebastian Castro is not even Filipino. Though he now resides in the Philippines and calls the country his home ( a second home, I think), his involvement in the LGBT community in Philippine entertainment is still ironic.

Young gay Filipinos who are straight-acting need a role model who is gay and straigt-acting, and yes, with a positive attitude. Rustom Padilla would have fit the description before but he relied more on his feminine side to show what he is. And yes, many gays frowned upon his transformation.

I am impressed though when Sebastian Castro made a good comment about Rustom Padilla, who is now more known as BB Gandanghari. And oh, by the way, Rustom is dead. BB Gandanghari is now taking over the feminine mold of Rustom's body.

Whatever his nationality is, Sebastian Castro would be a good model for Filipino gays. I am just hoping that he will last longer on show business. After all, what I learned in the media is that if you have the guts, you can get the glory.

Though others would accuse Sebastian as a famewhore, I'd say it is his life and it is how he wants it to be. I am not saying he is that. It's just that I understand that you have to work hard in getting the fame even though many people would accuse you of overdoing it just to achieve the fame.
